Cashmere Yarn: The Softest Of Wools
There are many different types of material. Each works well for in different situations. A cotton or linen dress is perfect on a warm summer day and synthetic materials are often better left for cooler weather. Wool is one of the best types of fibers to be worn during a cold winter.
One problem that many people have with wool is that it is too scratchy on their skin. Just the thought of pulling on a wool sweater has them scratching at their arms and neck. Of course some types of wool can be itchy. To counteract the roughness of the wool, it is sometimes blended with softer material such as angora or synthetic materials. However, there are some types of wool that are soft all on their own.
Cashmere wool is just such a type of wool. Sweaters knitted from one hundred percent cashmere yarn are not only not itchy, but they are extremely soft and luxurious. Cashmere knitting yarn is made of cashmere wool, which comes from cashmere goats and is the softest type of wool in the world.
Cashmere goats live in a harsh climate where a great deal of protection is needed from the elements and the cold. They develop a very soft, downy coat next to their skin which is then covered by a very coarse layer of hair. Cashmere wool comes from that soft, downy layer.
In order to make the pure wool cashmere goats are shorn and the soft wool is carefully separated from all pieces of the rough hair. This wool is then spun into cashmere yarn, either in its natural color or having been dyed.
Cashmere yarn is not only extremely soft, it is also very lightweight, but surprisingly warm at the same time. This makes it ideal for sweaters, scarves, socks and other winter wear. It also makes it one of the most expensive types of material you can buy!
Sweaters made of Cashmere yarn are very luxurious. Wearing one can make you feel like a million dollars. It hangs beautifully as well as looking lovely and providing you the warmth and coziness everybody wants on a cold day.
Although cashmere wool is very expensive, for many people it is worth it to have a token cashmere garment. If you look around it is actually possible to find cashmere clothing at a much lower price than what you find in expensive department stores. Almost anyone can afford to have one, and it makes a great addition to any wardrobe.
Cashmere is warm enough to get cashmere goats through harsh, freezing winters in Mongolia and China, and the garments made of their wool will certainly help you make it through the winter, too!
